How It Works

Does your website have White Elephantiasis?

White ElephantYou’ve tried everything. You’ve tried different Do-It-Yourself website programs. You’ve probably tried a free website creator that came with your hosting, or a site builder that costs you $30 a month. You’ve dabbled in HTML and CSS. You probably even know your <h1> tag from your <p> tag.

You may even have hired someone, thinking that they’d deliver the holy grail of professional web design. But they created a monster. They didn’t understand what you wanted, and now you have a white elephant you can’t do anything with.

You’d love to be able to hire a top-notch designer to fix everything up, but you don’t know what kind of hefty price tag is attached to these services. And it’s a bit embarrassing to ask for a quote and risk having to slink away with your tail between your legs when you find it’s way out of your budget. (Especially if you’ve already just spent that budget on a bad designer.)

Everything you’ve tried hasn’t given you the website you long for, because of the following reasons:

There are a lot of greedy people looking to make a quick buck

You’ve heard it all before:

“Sign up and you, too, will be able to create a website in just 30 minutes!”

“Create your own website with drag and drop – no need to learn how to code!”

“Easily create your own website with our free website building software!”

greedThere’s always a catch, though, usually involving a monthly fee. These people are notorious for locking you into their system, making it very hard (if not impossible) to leave them and take your hard work with you to another host.

And all this hype about it being ‘fast’ and ‘easy’ and there being hundred of great templates to choose from is, at best, a stretch of the truth.

The worse part is invisible to the untrained eye, though. These systems often create absolutely rotten code, so while things look okay on the outside of your website, there can be a real mess behind the scenes.

Messy code makes it harder for search engines to list your website the way you’d prefer it to appear. It can wreak havoc on how your website looks on different computers and in different web browsers. Bad coding also makes it harder to make changes to it later on.

So, if these systems are so bad, why do so many people recommend them? The answer is easy – it’s all about the money. People recommend them because when you sign up after following their link, they get paid a commission. So they have a vested interest.

Anyone can pick up a paint brush, but it takes a master to paint a masterpiece.

Mona Lisa JolieA web design program is just a tool – and there are many very poor-quality, almost useless so-called web design tools out there. It takes a skillful, experienced tradesperson with the right tools to do a job properly.

I can pick up a paintbrush, but I can’t paint a Mona Lisa. I can pick up a plunger, but I can’t unblock my toilet. I can pick up a scalpel but I wouldn’t attempt brain surgery.

And then there are some tools that claim to be able to create proper websites, but they couldn’t create proper code even in the hands of the most experienced web designer.

Programs like Microsoft Word and Publisher should never be used to create web pages.

The very thought of it sends shivers down my spine. You’re simply doomed to fail, no matter how hard you try.

So, don’t beat yourself up for not being able to create as good a website as you’d have hoped, just because someone told you that you’d be able to with this or that software.

After all, that would be like someone handing you a single cheap wax crayon and telling you that you can create The Scream with it, with no previous drawing experience.

Scream

You haven’t been given the right tools or experience. It’s enough to make you want to… scream.

It feels like you only have two choices – do it all yourself, or relinquish all control to an expensive web designer.

Chances are that you formed your ideas about your options from either a fellow small business owner who recommended the Do-It-Yourself route, or a web designer who wanted to take charge of your website and charge you through the nose for each little change you wanted to make to your content.

But there is an alternative

How were you to know that there’s a way you can have a truly attractive, professional design and yet retain full control over all your content? There’s no good reason why you need to pay a web designer to fix a typo, change a headline, or even add or remove a whole page all by yourself whenever you darn well feel like it.

It really is possible to be in total control of your control and be extremely proud of how your website looks.

When I first came to Trisha, I was extremely frustrated with coding one of my sites.

Nothing seemed to be working: tables were askew, the code was bloated beyond recognition… you name a problem, and my site had it.

I was about to give up when a received a note from Trisha. It was like being pulled back from the edge of a cliff. She offered to help and I jumped at the chance.

OK, maybe I didn’t jump… being the cautious guy that I am… let’s say I walked very quickly.

:)

What happened next was truly miraculous. All my pain vanished! She took over the design and CSS issues and I felt like I was on vacation in the Bahamas!

Working with Trisha has been the easiest thing ever. Though she’s in Australia and I’m in California, our interaction was seamless. I am overjoyed with her work and I know that when future needs arise, Trisha will be there to help me sort through them and find the right solutions.

If you want a web site that rocks, Trisha Cupra is who you need.
